RECENT WORKS

Dave is inspired to paint by nature. He most often makes his sketches on site with felt-tipped markers or watercolor and uses these, along with reference photos and notes, as the basis for his studio work. Dave comments, "I make frequent plein aire excursions, weather permitting. The effects of light and shadow energize me. I paint realistically, for the most part, but communicating the mood or a sense of place is more important than an exact portrayal."

Watercolor, oil and  pastel are Dave's  primary mediums  along with occasional work in acrylic.
